About Mr Hunter
Mr Hunter is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery. He is clinical director for trauma & orthopaedic surgery at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital and sees private patients at the Spire Yale Hospital in Wrexham and Nuffield Chester Hospital. In addition to this, he is a clinical supervisor for surgical trainees from the Wales and Stoke/Oswestry higher surgical training programmes and an honorary clinical lecturer for both Cardiff and Bangor University.
Mr Hunter completed his undergraduate medical training in Manchester followed by foundation training in the Oxford deanery. He completed core surgical training in both plastic surgery and trauma and orthopaedic surgery before securing a place on the prestigious Stoke/Oswestry orthopaedic higher surgical training programme.
During this time he presented at national conferences, published papers in international peer-reviewed journals and developed a keen interest in teaching.
He was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in medical education and a Master’s degree in Evidence-Based Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
After completion of his training, Mr Hunter spent a further year at the internationally renowned Wrightington Hospital – a specialist centre for hip and knee surgery, prior to taking up his consultant post.
